Top 10 songs to make a baby go to sleep

Here's our list of top 10 songs to make a baby go to sleep. It worked for our little man and we figured out he's definitely got a preference for female voices. Try them out ... you never know ... they might just work for you as well :-)

BTW - if you haven't seen the movie Samsara (#2) check it out ... it's a must watch.

#1: Katie Melua - Closest Thing to Crazy

Kick the colic!

As dads we can get an appreciation of what it's like to feed a baby when we give the little ones a bottle of expressed milk (or formula). Cool - then what happens? The baby gets indigestion (or in extreme cases ... a colic). DOH. A quick "dad will fix this" search on Google leads to plenty of remedies – some more bizarre than others. So here's my attempt to sorting through the c ... WIND and finding out what actually works. Try this at home guys!

The first type of remedies is free (HAH!) – and it's basically some form of baby aerobics to do with releasing the trapped wind that causes discomfort. Check this out:

Intelligent Self Defense Karate

Being a father of 4 children, their safety is always on my mind especially as my 3 teenagers become more independent, to me the streets don’t seem as safe as they used to be, and it’s not just the streets, social events and parties can quickly get out of control.

Having done a level of security work myself as a night club bouncer I have seen my fair number of fights just appear out of nowhere, so I do worry about my kids.

However I know my kids are not going to want to me to follow them everywhere, so they are just going to have to learn to recognise potential risks and avoid them, but in the event that they are caught up in a situation, they need to know what to do as safely and quickly as possible.

I found this great self defence video, which as the title says is the most intelligent form of self defence I have seen.

Peter Love - Daddy's Little Girl

A song about a Father's unwavering love for his daughter from birth through marriage and beyond. This song is excellent for weddings, birthdays, sweet sixteens, etc.!

They’re always watching

One of the most special times of being a father is when your child is an infant and they sleep on your chest or right next to you in bed during nap time. The best part is when they partially open their eyes just to make sure you're there, and then close them again knowing they're safe and secure and can go back to sleep.

It doesn't change when they get older. You don't nap with them anymore, but that doesn't mean they take their eyes off you for reinforcement. They need your steady hand, your wisdom, your encouragement, your love.

Watch this outstanding video and reflect on this amazing privilege.

Huddle up and ask your kids tonight: Do you think I'm a good role model for you? Why or why not?

Lullabye in Ragtime

A great old-school lullabye from a Danny Kaye movie "Five Pennies"

What has happened to these great movies and entertainers???

To save my little girls ears, I tend to just hum along :-)
Singing is a great way to interact with my little girl, the sound of my voice (trying to sing) sooths her.

Warm Regards

Eric

Those who serve, those who wait

Military men and women sacrifice much for their country... and so do their families. It’s been said that freedom isn’t free – and that’s true. Even the children of soldiers pay the price, as they experience the absence of their dad or mom, who is serving overseas.

As you watch this touching video, take a moment to remember all of our military families who sacrifice so much for our country’s freedom and safety.
