Everyone who likes to sing usually has a sense for their sining range. A range is the spread between the lowest note he or she can comfortably hit and the highest note he or she can nail without making the audience suffer. Women usually have a different range from men. The CDEFGAB notes on the scale which correspond with DO, RE, MI, FA, SO , LA, TI, DA of The Sound of Music are the notes you pick from. The trick to sounding like you're not straining is to find the key that matches your vocal cords. I'm comfortable in the Key of E when singing in Spanish. The Key of C and the key of D are also workable for me but sometimes, depending on the song choice, I may not be able to reach some of top notes. Still, knowing the key signature that most matches your vocal ability makes all the difference. When I sing with your mom, we have to work through different keys until we find one that doesn't make her sing falsetto and me sound like the low the hum of a seal.

ometimes, people think they can't sing because very seldom do they know their own range. They try singing along to a song, strain at it and conclude that singing isn't in the stars for them. Meanwhile, they just assume that those who are able to sing can sing in any key signature... Not so.

Find your singing keys, then sing to your heart's content!
