DIYFather.com is a website for dads that offers practical information about parenting from a male perspective. DIYFather.com was brought into this world by Scott Lancaster, Eric Mooij and Stefan Korn who recognised the need for a dedicated website for fathers. Based on their own experiences of struggling to find useful parenting related information specifically aimed at dads they created this website.
The main purpose of DIYFather.com is to help men become the best fathers they can be.
DIYFather has 3 principles to achieve its vision:
- be inclusive and offer non-judgmental support for fathers regardless of their parenting choices or circumstances
- provide practical tips and examples of positive parenting
- share stories and useful information to inspire and encourage fathers to spend time with their children
Stefan Korn - Director
As a parallel entrepreneur Stefan is very passionate about anything to with online or mobile web. His partner Raquel gave birth to their son Noah in May 2007 and the experience of becoming a father as well as the challenges of looking after Noah have prompted him to come on board DIYFather.com to help make a difference in the parenting space.
In addition to DIYFather.com, Stefan runs a private incubator for online start-ups called "WebFund". Stefan has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and an MBA in International Business. Stefan is also actively engaged in community projects and enjoys tutoring at Wellington Community Education. Outside of his professional engagements and family he spends truly unreasonable amounts of time producing music and silly videos.
Scott Lancaster - founding member
Scott is the founder of DIYFather.com. He is the father of baby girl Pyper and is married to Renee, who gave birth to Pyper in July 2007. After discovering how little parenting information was available for fathers, Scott approached the other two directors, who helped him build DIYFather.com. When not involved in DIY Father, Scott looks after Pyper and also helps Renee with her business. Scott has an Applied Science degree majoring in Agriculture and comes from a farming background. Scott left his active role at DIYFather in 2011 but still enjoys contributing articles and advice when he finds the time.
Eric Mooij (pronounced Moy) - founding member
Eric is father to Nastassja (18), Christian (17), Amber (16), Ava (3) and baby girl Emerson (1). Although he is not living with Nastassja, Christian and Amber full-time, he has regular contact with them and supports his kids in every way possible. Eric is keen to ‘make a stand’ for families and positive parenting. Coming from a broken family himself and having relived this situation now with his own children, he is working hard to be a positive role model. Eric is no longer involved full time in DIYFather but continues to support the company in many ways through his role as a tutor for Parents Centre.
